Lagg's Inaugural Editions 1, 2, and 3 are the first three limited-edition single malt whiskies from the Lagg Distillery (the second distillery on the Isle of Arran), all heavily peated to around 50 ppm. The three releases were matured differently, with Batch 1 in ex-bourbon, Batch 2 finished in ex-Oloroso sherry casks, and Batch 3 finished in ex-Rioja red wine casks, before being bottled at 50% ABV without chill-filtration or added colouring. 
Inaugural Release 1
  • Maturation: Matured for just over three years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. 
  • Flavor Profile: Notes of citrus, heather, and bonfire smoke, along with caramel, vanilla, and malted biscuit. 

 

Inaugural Release 2
  • Maturation: 
    Matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks for 30 months and then finished for six months in 55L ex-Oloroso sherry Firkin casks. 
  • Flavor Profile: 
    A balance of smoke with notes of sultanas, warm spices, and a touch of sherry fruitiness. 
Inaugural Release 3
  • Maturation: 
    Matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks for 30 months before a six-month finish in tiny 55L ex-Rioja red wine charred casks. 
  • Flavor Profile: 
    Rich, complex dram with notes of red fruit, dark fruit, toasted oak, and earthy peat.
